We are seeking a seasoned backend engineer to contribute to the development of Vibrant, our consumer-focused mobile wallet. Initially designed as a crypto wallet to safeguard against inflation in Latin America, Vibrant is now poised for international expansion, integrating humanitarian efforts and various crypto functionalities such as yield generation, swaps, and seamless transactions with traditional banking systems. In this pivotal role, you will lead the design and execution of new features and enhancements, collaborating closely with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to elevate the Vibrant experience.

Your Responsibilities Include:

  • Engaging in all phases of the development lifecycle for Vibrant's backend services, from conceptualization to deployment and ongoing maintenance.
  • Architecting scalable software solutions that meet high-performance demands.
  • Proactively identifying opportunities for architectural improvements.
  • Providing leadership and guidance to the team to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Working collaboratively with product, design, and engineering teams to review code and design proposals.
  • Contributing to the establishment of engineering best practices across SDF.
  • Assisting in the continuous enhancement of our deployment, monitoring, and incident response protocols.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 7 years of professional experience in software development.
  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • Extensive experience in designing and deploying production-grade backend services on cloud platforms.
  • Strong foundation in computer science principles, including data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, and information retrieval.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Go, Python, Ruby, Rust, Java, or similar.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to lead technical discussions, particularly during design and code reviews.
  • Expertise in software design patterns, focusing on creating reusable, extensible, and modular components.
  • A genuine enthusiasm for contributing to a small, dynamic team where autonomy is encouraged.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in developing backend services for mobile applications.
  • Background in digital payments or fintech solutions.
  • Familiarity with building backend services in Go or other strongly typed languages.
  • Experience with experimentation platforms like LaunchDarkly.
  • Knowledge of Firebase Authentication or similar authentication services.
  • Experience with Kubernetes or other container orchestration technologies.
  • A collaborative mindset with a focus on promoting the best ideas in a supportive manner.
