About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Track Design Engineer to join our team at Amtrak. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing complex track alignment designs for various rail projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare track alignment designs for complex track engineering projects and studies
  • Conduct civil and track engineering design and constructability reviews of project-related track design submittals
  • Mentor junior members of the track design team
  • Provide technical assistance to other departments and consultants
  • Make engineering recommendations for consultants and Amtrak Division Engineers
Requirements
  • Experience in civil/transportation design on rail projects
  • Working knowledge of AREMA and AMTRAK design criteria
  • Fully proficient in using Bentley Microstation RailTrack, PowerRail or OpenRail design CAD design software
  • Experience in detailed data extraction/mapping and 3D modeling using TopoDot software
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering or Transportation
  • EIT or PE license
  • 6-8 years' experience in railroad/transportation engineering
Work Environment

This position is primarily based in an office environment with minimal exposure to potentially unpleasant working conditions. However, work may sometimes require working in inclement weather, construction sites, and exposure to high-speed trains and heavy equipment.

Travel Requirements

This role requires up to 25% travel.
