Optician Dispenser

We are seeking a highly skilled Optician Dispenser to join our team at Kaiser Permanente in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. As a key member of our optical services team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and ensuring the highest level of customer satisfaction.

• Determine patient's eyewear needs and recommend lens style, color, and material, as well as frame shape, color, and material.
• Take facial measurements and use ophthalmic equipment to fabricate spectacles.
• Provide direct supervision of unlicensed optical staff and serve as an informational resource for patient's eyewear needs.
• Understand and explain spectacle lens geometry to patients and apply principles of size, thickness, and power to assist patients in selecting proper eyewear.
• Measure and shape lenses and adjust frames using ophthalmic equipment.
• Inspect patient's eyewear using ANSI Z80.1 standards and tolerances and perform quality check functions.
• Follow-through on rush orders and perform basic and technical duties to provide contact lens services.
• Identify patient concerns and recommend actions to be taken, discussing solutions with optical management as needed.

• One year of ophthalmic dispensing experience.
• One year of demonstrated sales experience.
• Six months of contact lens dispensing experience.
• Valid Hawaii Dispensing Optician License.

• Post high school training in Ophthalmic Optics.
