Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and talented individual to join our Drafting and Records Department as a Gas Pipeline Engineering Intern. This exciting opportunity will provide hands-on experience in the installation and maintenance of natural gas carrying components, as well as working with engineering projects and computer programs such as GIS and Auto Cad.
Responsibilities
- Assist with traceable verifiable complete (TVC) records reviews.
- Review project documentation for Part 192 and SOP compliance.
- Gain a working knowledge of industry codes and standards.
- Work with engineering projects in the installation and maintenance of natural gas carrying components.
- Work with computer programs such as GIS and Auto Cad to understand how these programs are used in the gas industry.
- Work with federal regulations that govern the gas pipeline industry.
- Learn the importance and application of the company's gas pipeline integrity program and components.
Qualifications
- Rising sophomore, junior, or senior majoring in engineering or engineering technology.
- Currently enrolled in a 4-year ABET-accredited bachelor's degree program or an engineering technology program.
- Minimum GPA of 2.5 (3.0 preferred).
- Excellent computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to create and work with Word/Excel spreadsheets and reports.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment or independently.
- Good planning and organizing skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Preliminary work experience demonstrating knowledge of equipment and repair.
- Analytical and deductive reasoning skills, oral/written communication skills, technical writing skills, electrical/mechanical skill/mathematical skills.
- Ability to analyze/troubleshoot/solve equipment or process problems.
- Ability to conduct site inspections or walk downs, including working at heights and in confined spaces.
- Ability to maintain drawing and configuration documentation as related to repairs and modification.
- Ability to use basic hand tools, basic measuring and testing equipment, and small power tools.
- Ability to articulate technical subject matter both verbally and written.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations.
- Good communications and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated and have a strong work ethic.
- Prefer students with active participation in a university engineering organization, especially in a leadership role.
- Must currently hold a valid driver's license.
About the Job
This internship will provide a minimum of 8 weeks of on-site experience from June 2nd to July 25th. The selected candidate may be eligible for a one-time housing stipend if they are 50 miles or more from the assigned work location.
