Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday (10-hour shifts).
The Community You Will Serve:
- AdventHealth Apopka is a modern, seven-story, 120-bed facility providing a wide array of services, including advanced surgical options and a catheterization lab.
- The facility features a 30,000-square-foot emergency department equipped with pediatric-friendly beds, imaging services, a full-service cafeteria, a chapel, a gift shop, and an on-site fire station.
- This facility opened recently, replacing a smaller hospital that had served the community for over forty years.
As a Rehabilitation Specialist, you will assess, create, and implement tailored care plans for patients with physical impairments and functional limitations as prescribed by medical professionals.
Your Contributions to the Team:
- Evaluate patients' abilities to perform mobility tasks safely and effectively, assessing muscle, nerve, joint, and skin systems.
- Develop and execute a treatment plan based on best practices, insurance guidelines, and patient needs, while monitoring progress and adjusting as necessary.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation and billing, adhering to standards of practice and departmental policies.
- Assist with discharge planning and provide guidance on adaptive equipment and follow-up services.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals across various settings.
- Supervise the work of physical therapy assistants and rehabilitation aides in accordance with established regulations.
- Meet departmental productivity standards.
- Participate in departmental meetings and educational opportunities as required.
- Engage in professional development and performance improvement by maintaining clinical knowledge and utilizing evidence-based practices.
- Educate patients and their families about their needs and care options.
- May assist in promoting the physical therapy program within the hospital and community.
- Adapt to changes in patient volume by adjusting work hours as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Basic understanding of physical therapy practices, theories, and applications.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking conversational English.
- Familiarity with basic computer skills and Microsoft Office applications.
Licensure, Certification, or Registration:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained prior to engaging in patient care.
- Must hold a valid license as a Physical Therapist in the applicable state or possess a Temporary State permit.
