Food Service Cashier - Nutritional Services

Position Type:
Food Service/ Cashier

Location: Davenport Community Schools

Compensation:
Probation rate - $11.77; Regular Rate - $13.29

Working Hours:
10:15 a.m. to 1:45 p.m.; 3.5 hours per day, 5 days a week

Key Responsibilities:
  • Utilize a point of sale system to accurately record daily transactions
  • Maintain precise daily records of meals served to students, categorized appropriately
  • Keep detailed logs of adult meals, student prepayments, milk, and a la carte sales
  • Ensure correct pricing for food items, manage cash transactions, and prepare daily bank deposits
  • Oversee student meal choices to ensure adherence to federal meal standards
  • Assist in waste disposal and the cleaning of dining areas
  • Support food preparation and portioning, as well as the upkeep of service areas
  • Adhere to safety and sanitation standards
  • Effectively communicate with students, staff, parents, and supervisors
  • Provide assistance to the manager or cook-in-charge with data entry tasks
  • Help in the processing of Meal Benefit Applications
  • Perform duties in alignment with the district's Cashier Handbook
  • Support the implementation of a multi-tiered system of academic and behavioral support
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and build rapport with a diverse student population
  • Exhibit reliable attendance and punctuality
Physical Requirements:
The cashier should be capable of standing for extended periods, handling kitchen equipment, lifting items, and navigating stairs.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Competence in the outlined responsibilities is essential
  • A high school diploma or GED is required
  • Completion of designated training within the first year of employment is necessary
  • Experience with computers is preferred
