We are seeking a Certified Clinical Assistant to join our dedicated team at a local medical facility.
Position Summary
The ideal candidate must be fully vaccinated or willing to receive vaccination for COVID-19.
This role involves performing both clinical and administrative responsibilities, which include assisting healthcare providers with patient care and managing clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks. The Certified Clinical Assistant will provide essential information to patients, enabling them to fully utilize and benefit from the clinical services offered.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for examinations and treatments, including gathering medical history, chief complaints, reconciling medications, and recording vital signs such as weight, blood pressure, and pulse.
- Document patient information throughout the examination in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
- Assist healthcare providers in examination rooms.
- Follow both oral and written instructions effectively while meeting deadlines.
- Demonstrate proficiency in EMR systems and possess computer literacy.
- Understand and adhere to HIPAA regulations and best practices.
- Provide instructions to patients as directed by healthcare providers.
- Contact patients regarding test results and prior authorization information.
- Ensure that all relevant reports, lab results, and information are available in patients' medical records before their appointments.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of examination rooms daily, completing sterilization processes as required.
- Manage clinical supplies and equipment effectively.
- Facilitate the delivery and transmittal of prescriptions and respond to medication requests.
- Take telephone messages and provide feedback and answers to inquiries from patients, physicians, and pharmacies.
- Triage and process messages from patients and front office staff to healthcare providers.
- Maintain logs and perform required checks (e.g., refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, oxygen levels, cold sterilization fluid changes, etc.).
- Adhere to clinic protocols and guidelines.
- Complete additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Completion of a Certified Medical Assistant Program.
- Appropriate certification and/or licensure.
- Current CPR certification.
- Up-to-date health records with necessary immunizations for healthcare work (hepatitis B and tuberculosis).
- Considerable experience may be accepted in lieu of certification.
Experience Requirements
- A minimum of two (2) years of recent experience as a medical assistant or documented completion of an externship in a medical office.
- Experience in a multi-specialty physician office is a plus.
- Ability to perform X-rays is desirable.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Familiarity with healthcare protocols and medical office procedures.
- Understanding of specific assisting tasks related to various medical practices.
- Knowledge of information that must be communicated to patients and their families.
- Ability to perform medical assistance tasks competently.
- Skill in tact and diplomacy during interpersonal interactions.
- Ability to identify patient education needs and effectively share information with patients and families.
- Capacity to learn and retain information regarding patient care procedures.
- Ability to present a pleasant and professional image.
- Skill in planning, prioritizing, and completing delegated tasks efficiently.
Job Type: Full-time
Compensation: $15.00 per hour
COVID-19 Considerations:
All individuals are required to wear masks and complete a COVID-19 questionnaire prior to entering the facility. Additional cleaning measures are implemented as well.
