Job Title: Janitor

Reports To: Vocational Trainer

Main Function: Perform manual labor associated with the daily cleaning of buildings, under supervision, to perform various duties requiring moderate physical strength (able to lift 20 pounds).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor public areas and clean as necessary, contacting supervisor for assistance when needed
  • Dust mop, sweep, wet-mop, spray buff, and burnish floors
  • Operate power cleaning equipment, including vacuum, rotary machines, and carpet extractors
  • Scrub and clean restrooms, supply with towels, soap, and other items
  • Dust and clean walls, doors, windows, woodwork, and polish furniture
  • Clean elevators and stairwells
  • Monitor outside grounds and immediate outside of buildings
  • Remove trash and snow (if applicable)

Physical Requirements:

  • Physical ability and conditioning to perform all duties of the position, including lifting up to 50 lbs., pushing and pulling equipment, and performing physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs
  • Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, chemicals, and loud noises

Work Environment: Location will depend on assignment, and work hours may vary according to variable job requirements, assignment of project work, and other financial and contractual obligations.
