Job Overview

We are seeking a Construction Estimator who will be responsible for preparing cost assessments for construction initiatives by analyzing plans and bid documents within the energy transmission and distribution domain. The Estimator will work collaboratively with various departments, suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors to effectively support the field operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial assessments of construction drawings alongside Project Managers and Clients.
  • Exhibit exceptional organizational and communication abilities.
  • Interpret design schematics and maps, creating red-lines or as-built documentation.
  • Prepare and assess construction budget estimates by scrutinizing plans and specifications.
  • Evaluate change requests and assess cost modifications.
  • Resolve cost discrepancies through data collection and analysis.
  • Develop project bids and timelines, along with comprehensive project reports.
  • Collaborate with vendors, suppliers, subcontractors, and other professionals.
  • Coordinate meetings with clients and site construction managers.
  • Understand High Voltage Energy Transmission and Mid Voltage Energy Distribution plans.
  • Manage documentation and travel to construction sites as necessary.
  • Monitor construction activities and stay informed on safety regulations and advancements.
  • Implement corrective measures to address observations and inspection deficiencies, enhancing workplace safety.
  • Provide regular updates on major materials usage and inventory management.
  • Maintain an inventory of key materials until installation.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in construction projects is essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, along with schedule management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
  • Competence in reading blueprints and effectively communicating progress and recommendations to senior management.
  • Knowledge of safety training and OSHA standards is important.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in construction projects, including previous supervisory roles.
  • Certifications such as Professional Engineer (P.E.) or Project Management Professional (PMP) are advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Primavera P6 and OSHA 20 Certification is a plus.

This position involves working in a field environment, which includes various physical demands such as bending, lifting, climbing, and adapting to different weather conditions.
