We are seeking a highly skilled Nurse Educator and Infection Prevention Specialist to join our team at Bethesda Health.

Job Summary

This role involves developing and implementing corporate-approved orientation programs for all employees, with a focus on regulatory issues surrounding long-term care and adherence to Bethesda values and mission.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Orientation Program Development: Develops and implements a comprehensive orientation program for new employees, incorporating relevant OSHA and Federal and State regulations.
  • General Orientation: Conducts general orientation sessions using corporate guidelines, emphasizing staff and resident safety, and Alzheimer's disease care.
  • Mentorship and Training: Coordinates and monitors orientation activities, provides input into orientee evaluations, and recommends release from or extension of orientation based on learning needs.
  • In-Service Programs: Develops lesson plans and conducts in-service programs on various topics, including mandatory in-services, new product introductions, and policy updates.
  • Staff Development: Promotes a culture of staff development by being open and encouraging about the work environment, assists with mentor programs, and develops educational programs based on staff needs.
  • Infection Prevention and Control: Develops and implements an ongoing infection prevention and control program, establishing facility-wide systems for preventing, identifying, reporting, investigating, and controlling infections.
  • Antibiotic Stewardship: Oversees the facility's antibiotic stewardship program and leads the Infection and Prevention Control Committee.
  • QAPI Activities: Participates in continuous quality improvement activities, identifies areas for improvement, and prepares concise QAPI reports.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field;
  • Current RN license in Missouri and Illinois;
  • CPR/AED certification required or willingness to obtain within six months;
  • A minimum of five years of recent clinical nursing experience, preferably in long-term care;
  • Educational and supervisory/management experience preferred;
  • Ability to manage time and organize daily schedule to meet productivity standards;
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and EMR;
  • Good communication and teaching skills, as well as the ability to stand and walk for long periods and lift heavy objects;
  • Possesses integrity, initiative, and loyalty, with a high degree of ability in using tact, diplomacy, and discretion;
  • Able to concentrate with frequent interruptions and multiple distractions, and has a preference for understanding and responding to the physical and psychosocial needs of the geriatric population.
Estimated Salary Range:

$83,000 - $113,000 per year, depending on experience.
