Position Summary:
The role involves constructing, installing, and maintaining various structures, fixtures, and furniture using a variety of materials such as wood, steel, and concrete.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build frameworks for buildings, including walls, floors, and doorframes.
- Measure dimensions and proportions accurately.
- Interpret blueprints or directives from supervisors.
- Handle materials like wood, plastic, fiberglass, and drywall.
- Employ tools such as chisels, planes, saws, drills, and sanders for construction and repairs.
- Fasten materials using nails, screws, staples, or adhesives.
- Work at heights using stilts, ladders, and scaffolding.
- Verify work quality to ensure compliance with codes and specifications.
- Utilize levels, rules, plumb bobs, framing squares, and surveying tools for precision.
- Prepare structures for concrete pouring.
- Demonstrate basic concrete finishing skills.
- Assemble scaffolding.
- Install fixtures such as windows and moldings.
- Adhere to all applicable regulations and safety protocols.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings.
- Capability to pass a skills assessment.
- Strong foundational math skills.
- Good physical fitness and stamina.
- Proficient understanding of the English language.
- Possession of a valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to lift weights up to 100 pounds.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
Education and Experience:
A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience or training in carpentry is required. A high school diploma or equivalent is necessary.
