The Director will establish and oversee a robust framework for third-party risk management while guiding a team of experts to evaluate, monitor, and alleviate risks linked to vendors, suppliers, and other external entities. Your contributions will be significant in the following areas:

Program Development and Oversight:

  • Craft and implement a thorough third-party cyber risk management strategy.
  • Formulate and enforce guidelines for evaluating and addressing third-party risks.
  • Continuously enhance the program in response to emerging threats and regulatory shifts.

Risk Evaluation and Reduction:

  • Perform comprehensive risk evaluations of external vendors, including initial assessments and ongoing surveillance.
  • Identify potential weaknesses and propose strategies for risk mitigation.
  • Collaborate with external partners to resolve and remediate identified vulnerabilities.

Vendor Relationship Management:

  • Establish and nurture strong connections with key external vendors and partners.
  • Ensure that vendor agreements incorporate necessary cybersecurity standards and requirements.
  • Collaborate with legal and procurement teams to negotiate cybersecurity clauses in contracts.

Incident Response Coordination:

  • Assist in managing responses to cybersecurity incidents involving external vendors.

Reporting and Stakeholder Communication:

  • Deliver regular updates to senior leadership regarding the status of the third-party cyber risk management initiative.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports on third-party risk evaluations and mitigation strategies.
  • Effectively communicate with internal teams and external vendors about cybersecurity risk expectations and requirements.

Regulatory Adherence:

  • Ensure that the third-party cyber risk management program meets applicable regulations and industry standards.
  • Stay informed about regulatory developments and adjust the program as necessary.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in cybersecurity within various sectors.
  • At least five (5) years of management or supervisory experience.
  • CISSP certification is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Master’s degree in computer engineering, information technology, or a related field.
  • 8-10 years of experience in cybersecurity or risk management, with a focus on third-party risk management in a leadership capacity.
  • Strong familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks and standards.
  • Additional certifications such as SANS or ISACA credentials.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
  • A proven ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners.
