POSITION OVERVIEW

Under the supervision of the nursing director or medical director, this role is accountable for delivering fundamental nursing care to clients.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The responsibilities outlined below serve as examples of the various tasks that may be performed. The absence of specific duties does not exclude them from the role if the work is similar, related, or logically assigned to this position.
  • Administers and provides essential nursing care within the LVN/LPT scope of practice, including but not limited to personal hygiene, vital sign monitoring, basic client evaluations based on RN-established care plans, executing prescribed medical treatments, and administering medications.
  • Educates clients and their support circles about health concerns, medication regimens, and potential side effects.
  • Offers medical assistance to other facilities as required.
  • Observes and communicates any adverse reactions to medications and treatments to the RN and/or Physician.
  • Implements effective infection control practices.
  • Maintains current certifications in First Aid and CPR.
  • Ensures valid licensure as an LVN or LPT.
  • Employs behavioral management and crisis intervention strategies.
  • Facilitates social and vocational training activities.
  • Conducts individual and group therapeutic sessions.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary health discussions.
  • Administers annual TB screenings and flu vaccinations.
  • Performs injections and blood collection procedures.
  • Adheres to the policies and procedures of Turning Point Community Programs.
  • Ensures compliance with state licensing regulations.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm

Compensation: $31.84 per hour

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Education, Training, and Experience

A typical pathway to acquiring the knowledge, skills, and abilities outlined above is through the completion of a Licensed Vocational Nurse/Licensed Psychiatric Technician program, along with two (2) years of experience in community mental health providing direct patient care.

Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements:
  • Valid California Licensed Vocational Nurse or Licensed Psychiatric Technician
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification
  • California driver's license and current vehicle insurance/registration if driving; and,
  • Reliable transportation capable of passing vehicle safety inspections if over five years old, excluding all two-wheeled transport modes.
