Job Description
  • Clinical Expertise: Demonstrates clinical expertise and expanded knowledge through patient care activities, including diagnosis and management of health problems.
  • Health Outcomes: Responsible for the health outcome of an assigned patient population.
  • Collaboration: Confers with collaborating physicians and other healthcare professionals in areas of clinical expertise.
  • Educational Systems: Develops educational systems for patients, families, and staff in areas of expertise.
  • Mentorship: Mentors graduate students in aspects of advanced practice and patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts comprehensive appraisals of patients' health status by taking health histories and performing physical examinations.
  • Provides direct clinical care to patients.
  • Prescribes medications, therapies; orders laboratory tests, x-rays, and procedures according to clinical privileges.
  • Evaluates patients to determine their need for further healthcare.
  • Documents all care and education provided in the medical record.
Requirements
  • Master's degree from an accredited school/college of nursing or Physician Assistant Program.
  • Current license as a Registered Nurse in Illinois (RN) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in Illinois.
  • Certification as an APRN by a national certifying body approved by the Illinois Department of Regulation APRN Board.
  • Privileged and credentialed through the NMH Medical Staff Office (MSO).
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Minimum one year of APP experience.
