This position provides direct nursing care and support to patients at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. The LPN II will work closely with faculty, residents, and staff to ensure efficient operations. Key responsibilities include patient care, preparing exam rooms, and assisting doctors during exams. The ideal candidate will possess a valid LPN license and 6 months of nursing experience in a healthcare facility.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care and support to patients
- Prepare patient exam rooms and assist doctors during exams
- Take vital signs, reconcile allergies and medications, and document patient information
- Assist with preparation of medications and treatment as directed by physicians
- Perform various screening tests, including audiograms and visual testing
- Assist with surgical procedures and assume charge responsibility for a clinical unit when necessary
- Record prescription refills and other pertinent medical information in patients' charts
- Perform walk-in blood pressures and other triage needs of patients
- Sterilize instruments and maintain proper maintenance of equipment
- Perform EKGs, pulmonary functions tests, and other diagnostic procedures
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a valid LPN license issued by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation and 6 months of nursing experience in a healthcare facility.
