We are seeking a highly skilled Pathologists' Assistant to join our team at UPMC Lab Services. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment and contribute to the advancement of the field of pathology.

Compensation

The estimated salary for this position is $160,000 - $190,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. In addition to a competitive salary, UPMC also offers a generous sign-on bonus of up to $12,000 for Pathologists' Assistants and $30,000 for Sr. Pathologists' Assistants for those who qualify.

Job Duties
  • Provide frozen sections, intraoperative consultations, autopsies, and prenatal procedures.
  • File and retrieve surgical and autopsy materials and maintain accurate records of all such activities.
  • Ensure that tests are prepared properly at all stages from specimen collection through results reporting.
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A graduate degree in pathologist's assistant training program or Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences or Medical Technology or a related field.
  • Experience working in a high-volume, fast-paced laboratory setting.
  • Strong analytical and technical ability to independently evaluate patient specimens and clinical data.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to orient and train staff and provide educational experiences to team members.
