Join our team at Essex Regional Educational Services Commission as a Behavior Specialist, where you will play a vital role in supporting students with challenging behaviors.
About the Role:We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated professional to work in conjunction with other school professionals to develop individualized reinforcement strategies for students who exhibit challenging behavior.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct functional behavior assessments for students demonstrating challenging behaviors.
- Develop and implement individualized programs for students' IEP goals based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis.
- Create and train staff in the implementation of behavior intervention plans for children with challenging behaviors.
- Plan, prepare, and deliver treatment programs for students receiving individualized Applied Behavior Analysis services.
- Provide individual, group, integrated, and consultative intervention sessions for students eligible for Applied Behavior Analysis services.
- Provide parent training for eligible families.
- Maintain close liaison with the child study team and other related service providers.
- Keep records necessary for each student and complete all required local, state, and federal reports.
- Maintain data for behavior change procedures and make data-based treatment decisions.
- Participate in the development and improvement of opportunities for disabled/exceptional students by providing individual or group in-service experiences for staff and parents.
- Conduct ongoing evaluation of all students in the program to determine appropriateness of their program.
- Act as an educational consultant to classroom teachers, school counselors, and administrators as required.
- Assume primary responsibility for requisitioning and maintaining needed equipment and supplies.
- Maintain professional competence through in-service education and other professional growth activities.
- Board Certified Behavior Analysis Certification.
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis.
- Ability to effectively apply the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis to assess, treat, and monitor challenging behaviors.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proof of recent TB screening.
- Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.
