A Registered Nurse specializing in post-surgical care is accountable for providing comprehensive patient care through the stages of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. This role includes the responsibility of prescribing, delegating, coordinating, supervising, and assessing patient education and the activities of nursing support staff while upholding the standards of professional nursing practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and indirect patient care.
- Ensure adherence to professional nursing standards.
- Oversee the activities of ancillary nursing personnel.
Qualifications:
A. Educational Background:
Must be a graduate from a State Board accredited School of Nursing or an equivalent program.
B. Professional Experience:
A minimum of six months of relevant experience is preferred.
C. Licensure and Certifications:
- Possession of a current nursing license to practice in the State of Texas.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required shortly after employment.
- Medication Competence must be achieved within a specified timeframe post-hire.
- Computer proficiency is expected within four weeks of starting.
- Completion of an Arrhythmia Recognition Course is necessary if ACLS Certification is not held.
- AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification is required within a designated period after employment.
- Critical Care training and assessments must be completed within a specific timeframe.
- Phlebotomy and Point of Care Competency should be established within four weeks of employment.
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) completion is expected within six months.
- Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification is required within six months.
