Job Summary

CENTER FOR FAMILY LIFE, a nationally recognized social service program, is seeking a dedicated AmeriCorps Worker to support youth engagement programs and promote student leadership development and career readiness.

The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) staff, gaining experience in working with youth ages 14-21 and the social work group model.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supervising students in various activities, such as art-based recreation, after-school clubs, and homework assistance
  • Co-facilitating after-school clubs with CFL staff members
  • Partnering with SPHS teachers to co-facilitate school day advisory classes
  • Attending training and team meetings
  • Assisting in designing and implementing special events for high school students, families, and community
  • Supporting supervision of annual spring show preparation and performances
  • Planning and coordinating field trips for students
  • Co-facilitating weekly groups and providing individual mentoring sessions
  • Performing office duties as necessary

Qualifications:

  • Some college experience preferred
  • Experience working with youth on leadership development, service learning, and/or college exploration
  • Must enjoy working with high school students, working in groups, and being part of a community
  • Bilingual in English-Spanish, English-Chinese, or English-Russian, a plus
  • Detail-oriented, flexible, and a team player
  • Sensitivity to cultural differences
  • Strong belief in people's ability to grow and change
  • Ability to set limits and intervene appropriately

Benefits:

  • Flexible scheduling to complete 675 AmeriCorps service hours in 36 weeks
  • Total annual Living Allowance is $13,500
