Position Summary
The Lead Engineer - Advanced Training Specialist at Okuma America Corporation plays a pivotal role in acquiring, investigating, and evaluating cutting-edge technologies, exceptional field situations, and troubleshooting methodologies. Simultaneously, the Lead Engineer is tasked with producing pertinent documentation to assist in the development of the knowledge repository and training materials aimed at facilitating knowledge transfer through various educational formats, including structured instructor-led training sessions, virtual learning, mentorship programs, and apprenticeships.
- Guide and assist diverse technical teams within the organization.
- Oversee the development of new service product solutions to align with evolving technologies.
- Collaborate with Japanese advisors to obtain and refresh product technical documentation.
- Create training resources pertinent to new technologies and field insights gained from site assessments.
- Design new training materials as required for Okuma personnel, distributors, and end-user training needs, including manuals, procedures, videos, reference documents, knowledge base articles, and presentations.
- Revise existing training documentation upon receiving notifications regarding specification changes, safety updates, etc.
- Support and evaluate the preparation of training and assessment materials by our educational partners in alignment with the Okuma Machine Tool Academy.
- Provide guidance to any team member participating in business trips for knowledge sharing and enhanced understanding of mechanical/electrical training opportunities.
- Develop new training course curricula to address emerging technological advancements or training needs related to mechanical and/or electrical competencies in customer service.
- Comply with all company employment policies and safety protocols.
- Perform additional duties as assigned and seek opportunities to contribute value.
Experience/Education
- High School Diploma or Equivalent in Math and Science.
- Licensure/Certification in Electromechanical Training.
- Technical Training from a Trade School.
- Associate's Degree in a Technical Field.
General:
- Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
- Capable of working independently or collaboratively within a team.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced production environment.
- Proficient in basic PC applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Proficient technical writing skills.

- Fundamental mechanical/electrical skills.
- Ability to interpret blueprints and electrical schematics is advantageous.
- Basic proficiency with hand tools and various electrical and mechanical devices, including precision measuring instruments, multimeters, oscilloscopes, cranes, and forklifts.
- Strong troubleshooting capabilities.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, along with outstanding listening abilities.
- Ability to articulate effectively in a business context.
- Proficient in asking relevant questions.
- Ability to identify problems, gather data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Strong mathematical skills.
- Ability to follow instructions provided in written, oral, or diagrammatic form.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods, and stand, walk, and reach for the majority of the work shift.
- Capability to lift and carry, push, or pull up to 70 pounds.
- Ability to stoop, crouch, and reach.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to see clearly for all work-related tasks (vision corrected to 20 inches or less).
- Frequent finger dexterity is required for operating phones, computers, electronic equipment, and tools.
- Approximately half of the role is performed in an office setting with standard equipment and moderate noise levels.
- The other half involves working at customer sites, distributor locations, or within an Okuma warehouse/showroom/tech center, often in a production/warehouse environment.
- Maintain annual OSHA safety certifications as required by job responsibilities.
- Frequent travel (up to 75%) is expected after onboarding.
