Supply Chain Compliance Specialist

This role acts as a vital liaison for upholding customer compliance standards and addressing exceptions within the supply chain across all Distribution Centers and manufacturing shipping areas. The position is responsible for validating daily issues through internal tracking systems for both customers and internal teams. This function is crucial in delivering logistics services to Pelican clients and plays a significant role in nurturing those relationships.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Acts as the main point of contact for distribution centers and transportation management providers to resolve immediate customer complaints. Notifies customers of any shipping delays and alerts relevant shipping departments to perform dock checks and review shipping documentation.
  • Handles customer shipment issues and conducts thorough investigations to identify the root causes of delays or non-compliance with shipping instructions, including coordinating with Pelican's Shipping Department or Contract Logistics Provider to resolve customer concerns.
  • Addresses Advance Ship Notice Failures by either resending a manual copy or collaborating with the IT Department to provide an electronic version to the customer.
  • Compiles and presents reports to distribution center management regarding logistics non-compliance. Monitors product transit times from manufacturing facilities to distribution centers and generates daily reports.
  • Investigates non-trackable shipments, determines the reasons for lack of visibility to the customer, and provides updated information accordingly.
  • Responds to general customer inquiries, including order readiness and Will Call / Pickup requests. Reproduces or reprints missing packing lists or compliance certificates upon customer request.
  • Maintains customer requirements, EDI conditions, and carrier routing in the ERP customer master system, ensuring alignment with the distribution center's warehouse management systems and transportation management provider systems.
  • Supports, updates, and tests the Order to Cash platform for any changes in carrier systems. Serves as the primary contact for any issues related to communication between the Order to Cash platform and carrier systems.
  • Contributes to the creation, communication, and implementation of process documents related to customer logistics compliance requirements, including loading, consolidation, labeling, and outbound shipments, ensuring alignment with Pelican customer needs.
  • Investigates customer chargebacks, warehouse, and transportation claims, acting as a liaison to the transportation management system provider for these claims.
  • Adheres to company policies and practices as outlined in the Employee Handbook and/or applicable employment agreements. Follows safety protocols and procedures relevant to the position.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Intermediate knowledge of data analysis and mining.
  • Intermediate understanding of logistics processes, both inbound and outbound.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Operations Management or a related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience in supply chain performance management.
  • 1-2 years of experience with ERP SAP preferred. Familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems/Transportation Management Systems is advantageous.

  • Must thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Willingness to travel nationally as required.
