Job Purpose:

Under the direction of the LPN and Director of The Ridgemont, this role performs a variety of direct resident care activities to provide optimal resident comfort, safety, and companionship.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist residents with personal care, including grooming, dressing, bathing, toileting, transferring, ambulation, and dining.
  • Provide personal linen/laundry services to residents.
  • Ensure resident security after hours by conducting regular walk-throughs.
  • Respond promptly to resident emergency calls and relay information to the LPN or Director.
  • Observe resident physical appearance, attitude, response to medications, and appetite, and report observations to the LPN or Director.
  • Accurately document all resident care data.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental and community goals.
  • Maintain positive relationships with residents by greeting them by name, talking with them informally, soliciting feedback, and responding to requests.
Problem-Solving:

The Personal Care Assistant uses judgment to assess resident-related situations and assists residents or consults an LPN or Director as required.

The variety of tasks requires prioritization to ensure timely completion of essential duties.

The Personal Care Assistant reports hazardous situations, broken equipment, or unusual resident observations to the LPN or Director.

Decision-Making:

The Personal Care Assistant works under general supervision, using standard procedures to complete varied assignments.

Supervision is consulted if questions arise regarding techniques or unusual resident conditions.

Working Environment:

Physical effort is required to lift, push, and pull residents while assisting with daily living activities.

Hearing within normal range is needed to determine blood pressure.

Concentration, attention to detail, and corrected vision are necessary to prepare charts, assess resident condition, and administer treatment.

The Personal Care Assistant is exposed to chemicals, fumes, body fluids, and infectious diseases.

Equipment:

The Personal Care Assistant uses a stethoscope, blood pressure cuff, standard office equipment, and other tools to perform duties.

Working Relationships:

The Personal Care Assistant has daily contact with residents, family members, visitors, and coworkers to provide optimal resident care.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Reading, writing, and basic mathematical skills, acquired through a high school level education or equivalent.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills to interact with residents, family members, visitors, and staff.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends.
  • Pass a criminal background and abuse registry check, as required by state law.
