Under the direction of a staff cardiovascular surgeon, the Cardiovascular Physician Assistant provides high-quality patient care by performing surgical preparation procedures, perioperative and postoperative procedures, and assisting in cardiovascular surgical procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct admission evaluations, including obtaining medical information, reviewing patient records, and performing physical exams.
- Provide patient and family education on surgery, recovery, and risk factor modification.
- Assist in performing cardiovascular surgical procedures, including cannulation and invasive procedures.
- Administer intravenous medications for arrhythmia treatment.
- Perform postoperative procedures, including transcription of orders and review of patient status.
- Graduate of an approved physician assistant program.
- Physician Assistant License (California).
- Basic Life Support certification.
- Experience as a cardiovascular physician assistant.
- Ability to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
- Experience in first assist, EVH, and radial artery harvest.
- Proficiency in EMR systems, including KPHC and MS Office.
