Position Overview

As a Senior Software Engineering Leader, you will play a pivotal role in our Mastercard Send™ platform, which facilitates secure, near real-time payment transfers to and from billions of card, bank, and digital accounts worldwide. This platform enables participants—including banks, businesses, and digital entities—to modernize their money transfer processes, ensuring that funds are available to recipients almost instantaneously. Mastercard Send has demonstrated its ability to boost user spending and engagement, thereby enhancing core business performance.

Your Responsibilities

  • Address complex challenges that span multiple services and promote collaboration among cross-functional teams to achieve resolutions.
  • Develop and enhance applications/services through coding, while advocating for code reviews, scanning, and other standard development practices to ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Design and implement procedures and solutions at the service level to fulfill business requirements and enhancements.
  • Engage in and contribute to the agile processes and decision-making of the team, including prioritization and trade-offs in collaboration with product partners.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and maintain backlogs to enhance primary services/functions.
  • Promote automation and simplification in all aspects of software delivery and development.
  • Exemplify engineering excellence through hands-on leadership and the ability to troubleshoot and refactor existing code.
  • Facilitate seamless integration across all connected services to meet user expectations.
  • Encourage a culture of blameless postmortems to uncover root causes of incidents and implement lessons learned.
  • Introduce innovative technologies and architectures while adhering to enterprise guidelines.
  • Provide mentorship and architectural guidance to team members.
  • Foster relationships and effective partnerships across various organizations.
  • Conduct technical interviews to elevate the performance standards of engineering staff.
  • Collaborate on large-scale, cross-functional projects with globally distributed development teams.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in writing secure code in multiple programming languages (e.g., Java, .NET, JavaScript, SQL).
  • Knowledgeable about secure coding standards and vulnerability management.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code and cloud-first software development is preferred.
  • Familiar with standard branching practices and peer review methodologies.
  • Skilled in applying tools to measure code quality and identify anti-patterns.
  • Experienced in test-driven and behavior-driven development methodologies.
  • Understanding of basic and advanced design patterns to implement efficient code.
  • Familiar with API standards and their role in driving adoption and commercialization.
  • Experienced in agile methodologies and modern software development life cycles.
  • Capable of orchestrating release workflows and pipelines using industry-standard tools.
  • Knowledgeable about various application patterns to implement diverse business processes.
  • Experienced in Continuous Integration and Delivery concepts, supporting automation and virtualization.
  • Able to debug and troubleshoot code effectively.
  • Skilled in conducting product demonstrations and collaborating with product owners.
