The Role:
Cognizant is looking to recruit a WiFi Solutions Architect for our IoT Practice.

The IoT Practice delivers best practices and standards in Product Engineering, along with deployment, management, and operational support across the communications, media, and technology sectors.

The ideal candidate will possess the following experience and qualifications. This role presents an excellent opportunity for career advancement within our expanding global team.

Experience:

  • 15 years of experience in the development of WiFi Access Points (6E/7)
  • Comprehensive understanding of Wi-Fi technologies including WiFi6E and WiFi7, along with familiarity with industry standards and associations such as WBA and WFA.
  • Proficient in Linux, with experience in configuring, customizing, and building Linux distributions (RDK-B or OpenWRT)
  • Strong programming capabilities in C and C++
  • Expertise in Wi-Fi Protocols and a thorough understanding of Spectrum and packet capture/analysis
  • Experience with broadband products, including CPE RDKB devices, DOCSIS, and Cable Modem standards.
  • Knowledge of the Linux kernel, as RDK-B / OpenWRT often requires kernel-level customization, including kernel configuration, device drivers, and kernel modules.
  • Investigate and validate hardware compliance with various protocols and features
  • Analyze RF propagation, interference, and noise, with a deep understanding of Wi-Fi authentication protocols (WPA2/WPA3/802.1X with EAP-TLS/PEAP)
  • Lead the design and development of software architecture, defining the structure and components of complex systems
  • Utilize test equipment such as Octoscope, Candela, or Veriwave
  • Proficient with version control systems like Git for managing code repositories and collaborating with other developers
  • Scripting skills in shell languages such as Python/TCL/Bash for automation and scripting tasks
  • Familiarity with web-based user interfaces and web server technologies, as RDK-B / OpenWRT often includes web interfaces for configuration
  • Evaluate hardware performance under various conditions (e.g., different data rates, channel widths, and modulation schemes)
  • Proficient in debugging tools and techniques, as embedded systems can be challenging to troubleshoot
  • Experience in building DevOps Pipelines and Automation
Qualifications:

  • Active engagement in the RDK-B community and an understanding of its development processes and culture
  • Ability to adapt to evolving technologies and software requirements as RDK-B/OpenWRT and the networking landscape evolve
  • Understanding of wireless technologies, primarily Wi-Fi, and its interfaces
  • Familiarity with networking protocols, including TCP/IP, UDP, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, and other relevant protocols for networking devices
  • Awareness of security best practices, as network devices must be secure, including understanding encryption, authentication, and network security
  • Understanding of wireless technologies, including Wi-Fi, and how to configure wireless interfaces in RDK-B / OpenWRT
  • Stay current with technological advancements aligned with industry evolution
  • Present and defend architectural, design, and technical decisions to both internal and external audiences
Work Authorization:

  • Cognizant will only consider applicants for this position who are legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
Compensation:
Compensation will be in the range of $150K to $170K per annum.
