Position Overview

Role Summary
  • A Physical Therapist (PT) is responsible for assessing and treating patients within an acute healthcare environment. The PT caters to individuals across various age groups, providing care immediately following trauma, surgical procedures, acute medical incidents, or exacerbations of existing conditions. The Acute Care PT team aids patients in achieving optimal functional levels and offers guidance for subsequent care needs.
Responsibilities
  • The physical therapist designs and executes prevention, habilitation, and rehabilitation services. This includes the use of mobility aids, patient counseling, pain management strategies, strength enhancement, and the correction of disabling conditions.
  • Physical therapists rotate through various medical units, including but not limited to: medical ICUs, trauma units, cardiology, medical/surgical wards, oncology, neurology, and orthopedics.
  • Specialized teams for trained therapists may encompass areas such as wound care, lymphedema therapy, pediatric care, neonatal ICUs, and vestibular rehabilitation.
Qualifications
  • Education
    • Required: Graduate from an accredited Physical Therapy Program
    • Preferred: Master's or Doctorate degree from an accredited Physical Therapy program
  • Experience
    • No prior experience is necessary
  • Skills
    • Strong clinical skills, effective communication, interpersonal abilities, and organizational capabilities are essential.
    • Must be a self-driven individual capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
    • Demonstrated commitment to professional development through participation in continuing education and application of new techniques is preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification
    • Required: Active Physical Therapy license in the State of Missouri
    • Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment
