Position: Medical Billing/Patient Support

Type: Direct Hire | Employment: Full-time | Location: On-site

Schedule: Monday – Friday, Daytime hours | Compensation: Competitive hourly rate with performance-based raises

Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent is mandatory; a College Degree is highly desirable
  • At least 2 years of experience in medical billing or patient service is essential
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is necessary
  • Excellent communication skills are required
  • Experience with Epic software is strongly preferred
Role Purpose:

The primary responsibility of this position is to welcome patients, facilitate the use of innovative consumer-friendly technologies, educate them about their financial responsibilities, and assist in collecting payments when necessary. The role also involves scheduling follow-up appointments and connecting patients with financial advocacy resources as needed, while ensuring accurate updates to patient demographics and insurance information.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Guide patients through the healthcare system with clear instructions and follow up on any unresolved inquiries to ensure continuity of care.
  • Assist with various administrative tasks, including the management of medical records.
  • Support patients in utilizing self-service check-in technologies or assist them at the front desk based on their preference.
  • Facilitate scheduling for ancillary services at checkout.
  • Implement service recovery principles to address any service issues effectively.
  • Educate patients on their financial responsibilities and connect them to advocacy resources as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by obtaining necessary consents from patients.
  • Verify insurance benefits through appropriate channels.
  • Encourage patients to register for the patient portal and assist them in the process.
  • Collect copayments and other applicable payments at the point of service.
  • Provide a welcoming environment for all patients.
  • Assist with patient registration in biometric programs and explain their benefits.
  • Confirm and update patient information during checkout.
  • Manage phone inquiries and direct them to the appropriate departments.
  • Schedule follow-up appointments as needed.
