Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Attorney Advisor (General) to join our team at the Department of the Navy. As a key member of our acquisition team, you will provide legal advice on government contract, personnel, and fiscal law matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide legal advice on government contract, personnel, and fiscal law matters
  • Review, draft, and interpret contract language and other contractual documents
  • Work with contractor representatives regarding the Government's responsibility and legal propriety of proposed actions
  • Draft and review documents associated with personnel and labor relations
  • Defend cases before the Armed Services Board of Contracted Appeals (ASBCA), Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB), and Equal Employment Opportunities Commission (EEOC)
Requirements
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program
  • New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check
  • Must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time
Qualifications

The successful candidate must have a minimum of three and one-half years of experience in relevant legal experience with substantial experience in the area of acquisition law. For selection at the GS-15 equivalent level, the successful applicant must have at least five and a half years of relevant legal experience with substantial experience in acquisition law and familiarity with other practice areas.

The successful candidate must have graduated from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association, be an active member in good standing of the bar of the highest court of a State, U.S. Commonwealth, U.S. territory, or the District of Columbia, and be admitted to practice before a state or federal court.

Working Conditions

This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. The position is telework eligible, with the extent of telework subject to DON OGC and SUPSHIP Bath policy.
