Key Responsibilities:

  • Database Migration: Assist in migrating on-premises databases (Oracle and SQL) to AWS, ensuring seamless data transfer and minimal downtime.
  • IaC Development: Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and GitLab, ensuring consistent and repeatable infrastructure deployments.
  • Database Upgrades: Assist in upgrading Oracle databases to the latest versions, ensuring compatibility and performance optimization.
  • Problem Diagnosis and Remediation: Diagnose and remediate complex database issues, including performance problems, to ensure optimal database performance and resource utilization.
  • Database Tuning: Monitor and tune database environments to ensure maximum performance and resource efficiency.
  • Coding and Query Tuning: Develop and maintain Python code, including PySpark, and assist in tuning complex business analytical queries to improve performance and accuracy.
  • Collaboration and Documentation: Collaborate with application developers, architects, and project teams on physical database design and implementation, and prepare high-quality documentation of design, architecture, and database infrastructure.
  • Ad Hoc Projects: Assist with ad-hoc projects, assignments, and responsibilities as necessary.

Requirements:

  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or at least 7+ years of relevant work experience as a Database Engineer with a focus on IaC, AWS, and Oracle (on-prem).
  • IaC and Terraform: Solid understanding and experience with IaC using Terraform and GitLab.
  • Oracle Performance Tuning: Solid understanding and experience with Oracle performance tuning.
  • AWS Data Stores: Good understanding and experience with AWS data stores, including Document DB, PostgreSQL, MySQL (Arora).
  • Oracle GoldenGate: Good understanding of Oracle GoldenGate.
  • CI/CD Pipeline: Knowledge of CI/CD pipeline.
  • Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written skills, including good presentation skills.
