About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled HVAC Technician to join our team at JLL. As an HVAC Technician, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of HVAC and electrical equipment located in the interior and exterior of buildings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, repair, and maintain mechanical/electrical operating equipment and machinery.
  • Operate, repair, and maintain utility plant equipment and associated systems.
  • Conduct routine and ongoing assessments of building systems operations.
  • Perform tests, rounds, and analyze data to ensure proper functioning of departmental equipment.
  • Monitor the operation of all mechanical and electrical operating equipment.
Your Day-to-Day

As an HVAC Technician, you will install, service, maintain, and repair environmental-control systems in residences, department stores, office buildings, and other commercial establishments. You will utilize your knowledge of refrigeration theory, pipefitting, and structural layout to perform your duties.

You will mount compressor and condenser units on platforms or floors, using hand tools, following blueprints or engineering specifications. You will fabricate, assemble, and install ductwork and chassis parts, using portable metalworking tools and welding equipment.

You will install evaporator units in chassis or in air-duct systems, using hand tools. You will cut and bend tubing to the correct length and shape, using cutting and bending equipment and tools.

You will join tubing or pipes to various refrigerating units by means of sleeves, couplings, or unions, and solder joints, using a torch, forming a complete circuit for refrigerant.

You will install expansion and discharge valves in circuits. You will connect motors, compressors, temperature controls, humidity controls, and circulating ventilation fans to control panels and connect control panels to power sources.

You will install air and water filters in completed installations. You will inject a small amount of refrigerant into compressors to test systems and add Freon gas to build up prescribed operating pressure.

You will observe pressure and vacuum gauges and adjust controls to ensure proper operation. You will test joints and connections for gas leaks, using gauges or soap-and-water solutions.

You will wrap pipes in insulation batting and secure them in place with cement or wire bands.

You will replace defective breaker controls, thermostats, switches, fuses, and electrical wiring to repair installed units, using electrician's hand tools and test equipment.

You may install, repair, and service air conditioners, ranging from 15 to 20 tons cooling capacity, in warehouses and small factory buildings.

You will service, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair all HVAC and associated systems and equipment.

Desired Experience and Technical Skills

We require a High School Diploma or equivalent work experience. HVAC technicians must have a Universal CFC recovery certification (or within 90 days of employment). A minimum of four (4) years of technical experience in all aspects of building engineering with a strong background in the technical aspects of HVAC/R, plumbing, electrical, production equipment repair, and maintenance is required.

Knowledge of overall system design and applications is also required.

Candidates must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license. Preferred qualifications include working knowledge of computer applications, including Word and Excel, and two years of trades school or documented apprenticeship in electrical systems, refrigeration, and HVAC.
