Position Overview:
This role involves overseeing the delivery of safe and effective wound care for adult patients. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a self-directed and innovative approach to patient and family care. Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting assessments, diagnoses, and planning care based on evidence-based practices.
- Participating in educational initiatives and quality improvement activities.
- Adhering to professional standards as defined by relevant nursing authorities.
Job Responsibilities:
The Wound Care Specialist will primarily operate within a designated region, with flexibility to support various locations as needed. The schedule typically includes weekdays with occasional evening shifts on a rotational basis to ensure comprehensive support for all staff.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required; Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) is preferred.
- A minimum of three years of experience in wound care is essential.
- Wound Care Certification is preferred; candidates must be willing to obtain certification within six months of hire, with costs covered by the organization.
- Current RN licensure in the state of Wisconsin is required.
- Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association is mandatory.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct oversight and implementation of wound care protocols.
- Offer guidance and training to nursing staff.
- Monitor quality metrics and ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Act as a liaison among patients, nursing staff, physicians, and leadership.
- Develop competency evaluations and ongoing education for nursing personnel.
- Maintain a visible presence through regular patient rounds.
- Stay informed on current wound care products and treatment methodologies.
