Purpose Statement/Position Summary:
The Clinical Laboratory Technician II plays a vital role in our licensed clinical laboratory, performing duties approved by California business code 1269, CLIA, and other regulatory agencies. This position functions under the direct supervision of unlicensed or licensed CLS, MLT, or section manager, and is responsible for patient preparation, specimen preparation, client service activities, preparation and management of reagents and supplies, and performing procedures and QC functions approved by regulatory agencies.
Responsibilities- Perform patient preparation and specimen preparation duties
- Provide client service activities, including communication with patients and healthcare providers
- Prepare and manage reagents and supplies
- Perform procedures and QC functions approved by regulatory agencies
Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience:
- 1+ years experience in a large laboratory or academic institution
- 3+ years experience in technical phlebotomy if blood collection is required for lab section
- Processing experience preferred
- Experience in medical terminology sufficient to understand and discuss technical aspects of pathology and laboratory medicine
Education/Licensure/Certifications:
- High school graduate or equivalent
- AA degree preferred
- Certification for phlebotomy when duties include phlebotomy
