Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Sr Database Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our technical staff, you will be responsible for designing and maintaining databases, increasing data storage capacity, and troubleshooting database functionality issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and enhance the performance of existing databases
  • Design new database solutions that meet business requirements and data storage needs
  • Monitor databases to ensure optimal performance
  • Perform debugging on databases scripts and query optimizations to resolve conflicts
  • Create and maintain technical documentation related to database design, configuration, performance, and functionality
  • Adhere to best practices in securely storing, backing up, and archiving data
  • Ensure databases follow established standards and demonstrate good understanding of database development, administration, and warehousing
  • Evaluate new database technologies and stay up to date in best practices in database engineering
  • Mentor more junior database engineers in best practices of database development
  • Attend necessary meetings as part of the agile development process
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field or equivalent profession working experience
  • 5+ years of related professional working experience
  • Experience with MS SQL Server
  • Experience with a SQL Server monitoring tool
  • In-depth knowledge of Structure Query Language (SQL)
  • Knowledge of C# programming language preferred, but not required
  • Excellent knowledge of database development: data definition language, encryption, querying, normalization, transactions, indexing, and data manipulation
  • Knowledge of database administrations: dynamic management views, auditing, resource governor, clustering, always-on, replication, log shipping, monitoring, and performance tuning
  • Knowledge of database warehousing, data migration, and data architecture
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Exceptional problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
