Forestry Specialist

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Forester II to join our team at the Department of Forestry & Fire Protection. As a Forester II, you will play a critical role in supporting the department's mission to protect and preserve California's natural resources.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of tasks related to forest management, including fire prevention, suppression, and mitigation.
• Conduct field surveys and assessments to identify forest health issues and develop strategies for improvement.
• Collaborate with other departments and agencies to develop and implement forest management plans.
• Provide technical assistance and guidance to other staff members on forest management practices.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest research and technologies related to forest management and share knowledge with colleagues.

Working Conditions

The incumbent will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent travel to remote areas. The position requires the ability to work in a team environment and to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.

Special Requirements

• The position requires a Registered Professional Forester License. You will be required to provide a copy of your license prior to being hired.
• The incumbent must be medically cleared to wear respiratory protection equipment and to perform physically demanding duties.
