Team Overview

Our Yahoo Fantasy Sports development team is fueled by a shared passion for delivering exceptional products to our enthusiastic user community. We focus on both Season Long and Daily Fantasy offerings, ensuring a feature-rich experience that delights our users. While we operate in a fast-paced environment, we also cultivate a culture of enjoyment and sports enthusiasm.

Your Role

As a seasoned engineer, you will play a crucial role in mobile application development, contributing to the creation of high-quality products. You will collaborate with a team of skilled engineers and product designers who appreciate teamwork and constructive dialogue. Your curiosity and drive will enable you to tackle challenging projects effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and development of applications as the senior engineer on the team.
  • Work closely with fellow developers and designers to define, build, and implement new features in our mobile sports applications.
  • Engage in coding activities, primarily focusing on Android app development using Java and Kotlin, including feature creation, architecture design, unit testing, refactoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Participate in app architecture and design reviews, code evaluations, performance optimization, and build pipeline management.
  • Take ownership of projects, from complex refactoring tasks to planning intricate initiatives with multiple components.
  • Guide junior developers, sharing best practices and fostering their growth.
  • Contribute to shaping our technical direction, best practices, product concepts, and team workflows through your insights.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Strong coding abilities, design skills, and a commitment to mobile development best practices, including object-oriented design, modular coding, and performance optimization.
  • Proficiency in Java, Kotlin, Android Studio, Gradle, and version control systems.
  • Familiarity with contemporary Android best practices, such as Live Data, Jet Pack Compose, Coroutines, and Flows.
  • Experience with various Android app architectures, including MVP, MVVM, and MVI.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and debugging capabilities.
  • A passion for mentoring junior developers.
  • A collaborative mindset, with strong communication skills and a positive attitude.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent technical training.
  • Experience in a senior engineering role within a technical environment.
  • Strong presentation skills to effectively communicate technical innovations across the organization.
  • A passion for sports is advantageous.
