GIS Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled GIS Specialist to join our team at Spotsylvania County. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and updating maps, records, and associated data for the County GIS System.

• Update and maintain digital tax maps and the GIS System using advanced mapping/GIS software.
• Assign new tax map numbers, amend existing records, and add new subdivisions to master tax maps.
• Process survey plats to digital form for inclusion in the GIS System.
• Maintain the E-911 Mapping System, update and verify address records, and assign new streets/addresses.
• Provide address information to other departments and agencies.
• Assist with special GIS projects and perform related work as directed.

• Associate's degree with coursework emphasis in geography or computer applications.
• Three to five years of experience in data entry, CAD, and GIS, and mapping.
• Knowledge of principles and practices of providing administration and technical support related to mapping and GIS maintenance.
• Ability to maintain cooperative and effective relationships with intra- and interdepartmental personnel.
• Ability to review, classify, categorize, prioritize, and/or analyze data.
