Job Summary:The Maintenance Plumber will be responsible for performing preventive maintenance on installed plumbing systems and fixtures, installing, and repairing pipes, fittings, and fixtures.
Responsibilities:- Assemble, install, modify, and repair all pipes and plumbing systems.
- Study building plans, blueprints, and sketches to plan and lay out the routing, placement, slant, slope, fall, and proper operation of systems and equipment.
- Report and record work order details, including time taken to perform repairs and material consumed.
- Provide Work Order documentation to the NCMMS Productional Clerk at the end of each shift.
- Locate and mark the position of pipe and pipe connections, cut openings for passage holes of pipes in walls and floors, and use rulers, shop mathematics, levels, plumb bobs, and hand tools or power tools.
- Cut and thread pipe using pipe cutters, cutting torch, and pipe-threading machine.
- Open clogged drains with augers or hydrostatic equipment.
- Operate hoists, holders, and pulleys when removing heavy units such as large plumbing fixtures and valves of all types.
- Use Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) to identify chemical characteristics.
- Initiate material requisitions to order parts/materials needed for repairs.
- Assist with material and labor estimates.
- Perform corrective and preventive maintenance on all plumbing-related equipment.
- Install and/or repair various plumbing equipment (water heaters, drinking fountains, toilets, sinks, etc.) throughout the facility.
- At minimum, a high school diploma or GED coupled with:
- Experience in a commercial plumbing experience.
- Valid Journeymen license or ability to obtain with 90 days.
- OR Master Plumbers License (unrestricted) desired or ability to obtain with 90 days.
- Backflow prevention certified desired.
Must be able to read/write English and interpret various information to ensure procedures are followed.
Physical Demands:The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee may occasionally be required to lift more than 75 pounds. The employee must have close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:Work environment will require on-call rotation. The employee may be exposed to noise, dirt, dust, grease, machinery with moving parts, irritating chemicals, and occasional cold, heat, and inclement weather. The work may require the use of protective devices, such as respirators, masks, goggles, and/or gloves.
