Position Summary

The Clinical Training Specialist is tasked with enhancing the clinical competencies of respiratory therapists within the designated market. This role involves evaluating the clinical expertise and knowledge of both new and existing respiratory therapists, providing targeted coaching and training to bridge any identified gaps. The specialist will be responsible for the execution of clinical training programs for respiratory therapists, encompassing both onboarding and ongoing development initiatives. Training may be customized to address the specific needs of individuals or the market. Additionally, input will be provided on the national clinical training curriculum and materials. This position is regarded as a leader and trusted resource within the market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver training to ensure respiratory therapists possess the necessary clinical skills and knowledge to excel, utilizing small group, large group, or one-on-one formats, both virtually and in-person.
  • Educate new and experienced respiratory therapists on the effective use of Apria products and services, as well as clinical tools and resources.
  • Offer constructive feedback and suggest future training initiatives to the Corporate Clinical Team to enhance national clinical training efforts.
  • Collaborate with respiratory therapists on clinical calls to assess their skills and knowledge, providing coaching and modeling desired behaviors to improve understanding of concepts and techniques.
  • Regularly communicate with local management regarding the performance of respiratory therapists and recommend strategies to reinforce their skills and knowledge.
  • Conduct ongoing follow-up and focused hands-on training for respiratory therapists within the assigned market.
  • Provide refresher training locally as necessary.
  • Adapt training to meet the unique challenges and opportunities present in the local market.
  • Act as the market's subject matter expert on new clinical initiatives and programs, monitoring and providing feedback to identify and resolve issues.
  • Must reside within and be able to travel throughout the designated market territory.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Graduation from an accredited respiratory therapy program is mandatory.
  • A four-year degree or equivalent experience is required.
  • Previous experience on the Apria Clinical Team is preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant industry experience in sales, training, and/or clinical roles is required.

Certifications and Licenses

  • Valid RT License is required.
  • Must hold a current driver's license and auto insurance as per company policy. Driving personal vehicle for patient home visits may be necessary.
  • Registration or certification by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) is required. RN or LPN clinicians are excluded.
  • Must possess a current RCP license in the state of practice if required.
  • Current CPR Certification is mandatory.
  • Maintain all applicable licensure in good standing for all states of practice.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong business acumen to effectively engage with all organizational levels, including executive management.
  • Proven field credibility supported by a successful sales record, a positive attitude, and comprehensive product and process knowledge.
  • Excellent administrative and time management capabilities.
  • Experience and enthusiasm for coaching others.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Willingness to travel within the market as needed to support business objectives.

Technical Skills

  • Proficient knowledge of all Apria tools and resources is preferred.

Language Proficiency

  • Proficient in English (reading, writing, verbal).

Mathematical Skills

  • Basic mathematical skills are required.

Physical Requirements

This position is primarily stationary, requiring frequent sitting or standing, repetitive wrist motions, grasping, speaking, listening, close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Occasional lifting, carrying, walking, climbing, kneeling, bending, twisting, pulling, pushing, and reaching above shoulder height may be necessary. The role may also involve lifting equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
