Position Summary: The Patient Care Transport Specialist plays a vital role within the Butler Medical Transport team, delivering exceptional support to Advanced Life Support (ALS) partners and ensuring a superior transport experience for the communities we serve. This role involves responding to both urgent and non-urgent medical transport requests, assessing patients' conditions, providing basic life support, and safely transporting patients to medical facilities for further care. The Patient Care Transport Specialist is essential to the healthcare continuum, delivering critical care during emergencies and significantly impacting patients' lives. This position requires quick decision-making, empathy, and teamwork to provide timely and effective pre-hospital care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver outstanding patient care within the EMT scope of practice
  • Ensure safe transport of patients and crew members
  • Respond to both emergency and non-emergency transport situations
  • Communicate effectively with patients, dispatch, team members, family, and facility staff
  • Operate communication devices such as portable radios, cell phones, and tablets
  • Complete patient contact reports before the end of each shift
  • Maintain vehicles and equipment to ensure readiness for transport
  • Keep the station clean and organized
  • Stay current with certifications through timely completion of refresher courses and continuing medical education (CME)
  • Adhere to all state protocols, policies, and procedures
  • Represent Butler Medical Transport at community events as assigned
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum age of 19 at the time of hire
  • Successful completion of NREMT certification
  • Current NREMT and State EMT certification (or ability to obtain within 10 days of hire)
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to operate company vehicles
  • Completion of a state-sponsored EVOC course or ability to obtain within 90 days
  • Current AHA BLS CPR certification or ability to obtain within 10 days of hire
  • Capability to provide quality patient care within the EMT scope
  • Knowledge of state protocols for EMTs
  • Ability to pass a physical lift test
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screening
  • Pass a pre-employment background investigation
  • Proficient in English, both spoken and written
Preferred Skills:
  • Exceptional customer service abilities
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and patient care report writing
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to maintain composure under pressure
  • Previous experience in Emergency Medical Services (EMS)
Compensation:

$16-$20 per hour
