Key Responsibilities- Provide nursing services to students and staff in a variety of school settings, including classrooms, clinics, and other areas as needed.
- Develop and implement Individual Health Care Plans (IHCPs) and Section 504 Plans to ensure students receive appropriate medical care and accommodations.
- Collaborate with school personnel, nursing administration, students, and families to ensure seamless communication and coordination of care.
- Administer medications to students according to approved clinic policies, procedures, and written physician directions.
- Organize and maintain a clean, orderly clinic to ensure a safe physical environment.
- Provide privacy and a caring environment for students, displaying and modeling respect towards students and others.
- Identify and manage individuals with suspected infectious illnesses and help prevent transmission to others through exclusion and education.
- Evaluate student responses to prescribed interventions and the efficacy of the interventions, executing and documenting the nursing interventions noted in an IHCP or 504 Plan.
- Communicate and collaborate with school personnel, nursing administration, students, and families in a professional manner and with appropriate frequency about school health issues.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing education program required.
- Valid RN/LPN licensure in the State of Georgia; Certification in CPR/AED required; Certification in American Red Cross Standard First Aid required.
- Minimum of 1 year nursing experience required; 2 years of professional nursing experience preferred.
- Ability to maintain a positive working relationship with school personnel, students, and families.
- Competency in computer applications, record keeping, and organizational abilities.
- Interpersonal skills necessary for overseeing the clinic.
- Knowledge of fundamental nursing concepts, practices, and procedures is essential.
The School Nurse - Itinerate will work in a variety of school settings, including classrooms, clinics, and other areas as needed. The position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to prioritize tasks effectively.
