Job Overview:
Sensory perception is crucial for a successful Martian expedition. As a Sensors Innovation Specialist at SpaceX, you will be responsible for developing and implementing cutting-edge sensing solutions to overcome the challenges of life on Mars.

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sensors Innovation Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for sourcing or developing innovative sensing solutions critical to life on Mars. This includes reviewing system measurement needs, completing market studies, and overseeing the selection of optimal sensing technologies. Additionally, you will troubleshoot problems with acceleration, pressure, acoustic, strain, position, and thermal sensors. Your responsibilities will also include hands-on sensor testing, developing innovative test systems, completing sensor selection/customization, and maintaining sensor calibration data databases.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Select and test sensing solutions for challenging environments
  • Troubleshoot problems with various sensors
  • Develop test systems for physical sensors
  • Complete sensor selection/customization and testing
  • Interface with vendors and oversee system/vehicle integration
  • Conduct flight qualification campaigns of sensors
  • Lead interdisciplinary teams
  • Provide design and production guidelines to sensor manufacturers and internal test labs
  • Maintain sensor calibration data databases
  • Interface with vendors developing custom sensors
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges with selected physical sensors

Requirements:
A Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or aerospace engineering is required. Hands-on experience with sensors and proficiency in programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, Excel, SQL, and data acquisition systems is essential. Experience conducting flight or automotive tests, calibrating sensors, and completing sensor root cause analysis is preferred. U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required for ITAR compliance. Salary Estimate:
$110,000 - $140,000 per year.
