We are seeking a highly qualified and dedicated Classroom Teacher to join our team at UMOS. As a Classroom Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality education and care to our young students.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that meet the needs of our students, incorporating the Creative Curriculum System, UMOS School Readiness Plan, and the Head Start Early Learning Outcome Framework.
- Conduct regular home visits and parent/teacher conferences to ensure effective communication with parents and guardians.
- Administer child developmental screenings and assessments, and use the results to create individualized plans that address each child's needs.
- Implement daily activity plans, field trips, and transition activities that promote learning and development.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, including child roster/absentee list, meal count, classroom child file, case notes, developmental screenings, and assessments.
- Communicate effectively with families, capturing ongoing dialog with parents regarding developmental progress and other pertinent information regarding their child.
- Implement required health and safety policies and procedures, including storage of poisonous and hazardous materials, conducting health and safety checklists, daily child observation, diapering, injury/accident prevention, child accident reports, sanitizing, cleaning, and universal precautions.
- Participate in the ongoing weekly generation and collection of non-federal shares (In-kind).
- Use positive guidance strategies to help children learn, monitor, and promote positive behaviors.
- Conduct direct sight and sound supervision of all children at all times and demonstrate active supervision.
- Communicate, assist, and work with other staff in the coordination and assistance with arrival and departure of children at the center, set up and clean-up of the indoor and outdoor environments, and work with bus staff to ensure communications from center to parents, and parents to center are clearly explained and delivered.
- Attend all staff meetings, trainings, and center activities as assigned by the Center Manager and CDC.
- May be requested to assist in training and/or supporting other teaching staff.
- Be 21 years of age or older.
- Must have an Infant and Toddler CDA (Infant and Toddler classroom only) or its equivalent and been trained or have equivalent coursework in early childhood development with a focus on infant and toddler development.
- Preferred teaching experience with children ages 0-5.
- Strong oral and written communication skills. Preferred Bilingual in Spanish and English (oral and written).
- Must have basic computer skills to include but not limited to data entry and internet.
- Have reliable transportation; hold a valid driver's license with adequate car insurance.
- Work flexible and/or irregular hours with some travel.

- Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and bend.
- Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 30 lbs.
- Occasionally required to drive.
- Frequently exposed to moderate temperature generally encountered in a controlled temperature environment.
- Occasionally exposed to moderate to high noise levels.
- Occasionally required to ride the school bus.
- Exposed to bumpy travel conditions.
- Employment with UMOS is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check prior to employment.
- Physical exam and TB screening test showing absence of Tuberculosis within 30 days of employment or sooner if required by local/state regulation.
- Complete SIDS & Shaken Baby Training prior to working with children.
- Fire Extinguisher Training.
- Proof of certification in Infant/Child CPR and First Aid within 30 days or sooner if required by local/state regulation.
- Register in the State Childcare registry.
