Overview
The Cashier role is crucial for ensuring exceptional customer service, driving sales, maintaining cleanliness, and managing cash register operations in accordance with company policies and standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Foster a welcoming atmosphere for customers by greeting and acknowledging each guest, addressing inquiries about products.
- Stay informed about product details, promotional offers, and advertisements.
- Efficiently process customer transactions with accuracy and speed.
- Utilize the Point of Sale (POS) system effectively, managing various payment methods including cash, checks, and credit/debit cards, while adhering to company protocols.
- Engage in suggestive selling techniques to enhance customer experience.
- Handle telephone inquiries professionally.
- Resolve customer complaints positively and relay guest requests to management.
- Comply with shrinkage guidelines relevant to front-end operations.
- Maintain a tidy and organized workstation and assist with overall store cleanliness.
- Report any safety hazards or illegal activities, including theft or fraud.
- Adhere to all applicable local, state, and federal regulations, along with company policies.
- Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
Working Conditions
Environment: The position is primarily indoors within a retail setting that includes plants, chemicals, and live animals. Comfort with these products is essential.
Physical Requirements: Candidates must be able to stand for extended periods.
Position Type and Hours: This role can be full-time or part-time, with schedules varying based on store staffing needs. Availability for evenings and weekends may be required.
Travel: No travel is necessary.
Qualifications
Required Skills:
- Outstanding customer service abilities.
- Flexibility in work schedule, punctuality, and excellent attendance are essential, including weekend availability.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently.
- Capability to lift over 50 pounds regularly throughout the shift.
Education and Experience:
Required:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with Point of Sale (POS) systems.
- Basic math skills for accurate transaction handling.
Preferred:
- One year of cashier experience in a retail environment.
Salary: $12-$13 per hour.
