Quality Assurance Specialist for Food Manufacturing

We are seeking a skilled Quality Assurance Specialist to join our team at Michael Foods Inc. in Gaylord, Minnesota. The ideal candidate will have experience in quality control and assurance, with a strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills.

Job Description

The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for ensuring the highest quality of food products by performing various inspections and tests. Key tasks include maintaining inspection logs, testing for weight, temperature, and integrity, as well as adhering to USDA, FDA, and company standards.

This role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with all departments to maintain food safety and quality. The successful candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on continuous improvement and process optimization.

Responsibilities
  • Collect product off the line to check weight, pH, temperature, package integrity, diameters, ingredient samples and samples for solids, micro, shelf life and temperature abuse testing.
  • Complete QA control charts and inspection log sheet.
  • Check packages and master carton for proper coding to meet USDA and company standards.
  • Complete HACCP Guidelines.
  • Report any detected abnormalities to the Lead, Supervisors or Operators.
  • Perform a recheck of out of spec product produced.
  • Perform SAP functions. (Blocking product, locating pallet production time, Transfer orders)
  • Calibrate pH meter, thermometers, viscosity meter and scales to ensure equipment is accurate. Follow-up on defective product.
Requirements
  • Able to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English.
  • Able to write simple correspondence.
  • Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Able to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Able to maintain regular and consistent attendance.
  • Able to eat eggs to perform identity testing by using organoleptic skills (odor, taste, appearance).
  • Able to follow and comply with company GMP policies.

The estimated salary for this position is around $50,000 - $65,000 per year, depending on experience. This is a full-time position with benefits, including health insurance, 401(k) matching, and paid time off.
