Medical Laboratory Specialist

The Medical Technologist (MT/CLS) performs routine and complex analytical tests on human body fluids to provide accurate data to the healthcare team for disease diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring.
This role requires the ability to perform tests in various clinical areas, including Phlebotomy, Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, and specimen processing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect and handle specimens according to laboratory procedures, ensuring proper patient identification, priority status, and safety protocols.
- Perform routine testing of in vitro biologic specimens, reporting results in a timely manner.
- Correlate clinical information and previous lab results, reporting discrepancies to the Laboratory Manager or designee.
- Participate in proficiency testing and job competency/skills check programs.
- Adhere to laboratory quality control policies, documenting all quality control activities, instrument calibrations, and maintenance.
- Attend continuing education programs to expand knowledge and enhance professional excellence.
- Provide technical support and share knowledge with other staff members.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology (MT)/Clinical Laboratory Science (CLS) or Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technicians related science from an accredited program.
- 2 years of related experience is preferred.
- Computer literate and able to work effectively with others.
- Strong phlebotomy skills and previous experience in a hospital environment is preferred.
