Key Responsibilities

The Inpatient Registered Nurse delivers direct care to patients facing life-limiting conditions, serving a diverse population from infants to the elderly. This role involves:

  1. Utilizing the Nursing Process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) to manage individualized care plans effectively.
  2. Providing essential education to patients and families to ensure comfort and support during challenging times.
  3. Documenting and communicating all necessary information in compliance with agency policies and legal standards.
  4. Demonstrating proficiency in nursing care across all age groups, particularly in end-of-life scenarios.
  5. Delegating specific patient care tasks to Nursing Assistants to optimize patient outcomes.
  6. Engaging in ongoing professional development to enhance nursing practice.
  7. Organizing and executing work efficiently while maintaining a flexible schedule to support team performance.
  8. Exhibiting positive interpersonal skills in interactions with team members and patients.
  9. Ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction through compassionate care.
  10. Supervising the Hospice Aide and demonstrating the ability to work independently in managing patient care.
  11. Embodying the mission, vision, and values of Lower Cape Fear LifeCare in daily practice.

Qualifications

  1. Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program (RN or BSN).
  2. Licensure: Current nursing license in North Carolina.
  3. Experience: Minimum of two years of nursing experience, with preference for home care, hospice, or oncology experience.
  4. Technical Skills: Proficient hand-eye coordination for administering injections and using technology; clear communication skills in English.
  5. Interpersonal Skills: Ability to foster positive relationships with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
  6. Physical Requirements: Capability to lift and maneuver objects weighing up to 45 pounds and perform patient care tasks.
  7. Mental Abilities: Competence in assessing patient conditions and formulating care plans.
  8. Sensory Requirements: Ability to utilize sight and hearing for patient assessment and communication.
  9. Hazard Exposure: Frequent exposure to bodily fluids and potential safety risks during home visits.
  10. Work Hours: Flexible scheduling to meet staffing needs, including weekends and holidays.
  11. Patient Population: Care for patients of all ages with life-limiting illnesses.
