Job Summary:

The Counter Sales/Back-up Driver will act as a Sales Associate for the retail store by selling products to businesses and industrial customers.

This role requires a strong customer service focus, with the ability to build relationships with existing and potential customers.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of industrial, medical, and specialty gases, as well as welding supplies and related equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Sell industrial, medical, and specialty gases, welding supplies, and related equipment to customers.
  • Solicit sales with existing and potential customers and handle all associated paperwork.
  • Arrange for delivery of cylinders and hardgoods and maintain showroom displays.
  • Assist customers with merchandise and loading and unloading cylinders.
  • Demonstrate use of equipment and advise customers on equipment and materials needed.
  • Establish and maintain good customer relations and answer customer questions.
  • Communicate with customers, providing information on cost, ordering, and delivery times.
  • Monitor customer needs and work with them to maintain proper hardgood and cylinder levels.
  • Check accounts receivable status and communicate with the credit department about past-due accounts.
  • Ensure all required paperwork is accurately completed.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and professional personal appearance.
  • Coordinate with the purchasing department on product shortages or outages.
  • Ensure all safety rules are strictly observed.
  • Deliver products to businesses, industrial, and medical gas customers.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Perform as Backup Driver as needed.
  • Operate forklift and other equipment as required.
  • Assist with inventory, housekeeping, showroom displays, and demonstrations as required.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1+ years of customer service or sales experience.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Must possess a Class A or B CDL with HazMat, or ability to get appropriate license and endorsements within 30 days.
  • Industry experience or related product knowledge preferred.
  • Computer experience or basic knowledge in computer order entry system.

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to stand, sit, and talk or hear.

The associate is occasionally required to walk, use hands to finger, handle, feel, or use a calculator or computer, and reach with hands and arms.

The associate must occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds and move more than 125 pounds with the aid of material handling equipment.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
