Job Summary

The Operations Supervisor I is responsible for leading a team of employees and ensuring the efficient and profitable completion of job orders to meet or exceed production objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a team of 15-35 employees and recruit quality staff to provide high-quality customer support.
  • Meet department measurement goals, including waste reduction, billable hours, utilization improvement, spoilage, and rework.
  • Ensure employee adherence to company safety policies and maintain an active presence on the production floor.
  • Partner with employees to ensure shift metrics are met or exceeded and establish innovative methods to serve customers and meet goals.
  • Schedule staff according to workload and productivity goals and adjust workflow, team responsibilities, shift inventories, and equipment maintenance as necessary.
  • Ensure all quality and color standards and procedures are followed and identify opportunities to improve quality and reduce rework.
  • Oversee set-ups to reduce change times and maintain weekly department production reports.
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal environmental, safety, and health regulations.
  • Work closely with department manager to identify an effective staffing level plan and assist in identifying and evaluating equipment to meet strategic initiatives.
  • Communicate effectively with managers and supervisors in other facilities and collaborate to reach or exceed planned profit margins.
  • Comply fully with company human relations' policy and practice and confer with Human Resources management to address employee issues.
  • Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations, coach and develop direct reports, and promote safety as a number one priority.
  • Perform daily payroll functions and make applicable corrections, enter and manage PTO for direct reports.
Requirements
  • Fundamental English reading and writing skills.
  • Microsoft Office Suite proficiency.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and demonstrated well-developed strategic thinking.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Bilingual is a plus, preferably Spanish.
Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in manufacturing field or business a plus (will consider comparable industry experience in lieu of education).

3-5 years' manufacturing/production experience and 2+ years' proven supervisory experience in a manufacturing capacity, preferably with a background in the direct response industry.

Previous participation on a safety team and/or other safety training preferred. Lean manufacturing and/or quality control training preferred.

Physical Requirements

Ability to work consecutively 12-hour shifts, rotating 3 or 4 days per week including weekend rotations.

Ability to provide after-hours support when needed and maintain an active physical presence on the production floor.

Standard climate-controlled production environment; exposure to loud noise (PPE is provided).

Ability to lift, carry and push/pull up to 35 pounds and stand, walk, bend, twist, pivot, crouch, squat, kneel, and stoop for up to 12 hours.

Pre-employment post-offer physical assessment required.
