Medical Specimen Collector

We are seeking a dedicated Phlebotomist to join our team at Actalent. As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for collecting and storing medical specimens according to established procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collecting and storing medical specimens, including blood draws, labeling, and centrifuging.
- Clearly explaining the process of venipuncture and other specimen collections to patients.
- Demonstrating techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
- Fully understanding all physicians' orders and matching laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
- Checking test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure accuracy.
- Packaging specimens for transport and storing them according to required temperatures.
- Understanding and complying with OSHA and DEP regulations.
- Attending annual department trainings and answering telephone calls to satisfy inquiries.
Requirements:
- 1 year of phlebotomy experience.
- Experience with straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
- Processing experience.
- Experience with hard sticks.
- Genecology experience preferred.
This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 4 months. The work site is fully on-site.
