Purpose Statement: The role of Custodian is essential for delivering custodial services at designated locations; ensuring a clean, hygienic, and secure environment for students, staff, and visitors. This includes executing various specialized cleaning tasks, supervising students in communal areas during meal times, assisting with traffic management, and preparing facilities for educational activities and school events.
Essential Functions:
- Facilitates safe access for students, parents, staff, and visitors.
- Performs dust and sand removal to maintain safety and accessibility.
- Maintains cleanliness of facilities and grounds (e.g., classrooms, offices, restrooms) to uphold a sanitary and appealing educational setting.
- Communicates safety protocols to ensure understanding among students and staff.
- Distributes various items (e.g., supplies, mail) to the appropriate recipients.
- Manages traffic flow to ensure the safety of students and pedestrians.
- Provides information and guidance regarding activities and safety protocols.
- Maintains custodial equipment to ensure operational readiness.
- Monitors behavior in and around work areas to promote compliance with safety guidelines.
- Participates in training and meetings to enhance job performance.
- Engages in summer maintenance tasks to support facility upkeep.
- Documents activities through written reports and logs.
- Prepares facilities for daily operations, ensuring safety and functionality.
- Reports incidents to appropriate personnel for follow-up actions.
- Restocks supplies in classrooms and restrooms to ensure readiness for daily use.
- Addresses inquiries from staff and visitors to provide assistance.
- Responds to immediate safety concerns and operational issues.
- Secures facilities to minimize risks of damage or loss.
- Assists with maintenance projects as directed.
- Collaborates with other staff to complete custodial tasks efficiently.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
Required skills include the ability to perform multiple tasks and adapt to changing job conditions. Competencies include operating industrial cleaning equipment, adhering to safety protocols, and handling hazardous materials.
Knowledge of basic math, safety practices, and industrial cleaning methods is essential. The ability to schedule activities, collate data, and operate job-related equipment is also required.
Responsibilities:
